Dolphin Residence located in Noosaville on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, Australia borders the sort after location of Noosa Heads.
A premium sub tropical holiday destination, offering beautiful beaches/surf culture lifestyle while being surrounded by fine dining and boutique shopping precincts makes the Dolphin Residence the perfect holiday home.
A challenging waterfront property where an existing home was demolished to make way for a home to takes full advantage of the properties waterfront location paying particular attention to open, inside / outside holiday living.
Dolphin Residence is a courtyard holiday home where the pool is the centrepiece of the residence.
Located on a busy street the design pays attention to the location of living and bedroom spaces away from the street and towards the serenity of the waterfront. Garage and services zones are located towards the boundary of the street acting as a noise buffer from vehicle activity.
The primary street elevation of the residence faces west which offered a challenge in protecting the residence from the summer sub-tropical sun.
The design solution was to create a sculptural wall to the western elevation which protects the residence from the subtropical heat in the afternoons whilst offering a decorative screen wall to the streetscape.
The depth of the masonry screen wall provides movement to the streetscape via shadow casting on the building during the day and seasons.
